Holding Nothing Back

Buying a TV for the Quacker. No, Eric, that one won't fit.

Taking Time

My husband Eric and I have lived 2012 at a sprint pace over a marathon distance.

Well, not anymore.

  • Eric quit his job.
  • I postponed delivery of my next novel to my editor.
  • For the first time since January 1st, we took a weekend off from work and spent it with just each other.

As far as breaks go, this probably isn’t much of one, because it looks like Eric won’t get any time off from work between the end of his old job and the start of his next one. I filled my vacated writing time with my day job. And our next weekend breather together won’t come until Christmas. However, time — any time — away from the grind and spent slowing down together is very sweet.

Buying a TV for the Quacker. No, Eric, that one won’t fit.

So my break is your break, friends.

Enjoy yours from me :-) and I’ll see you soon.

I am SO glad you are taking some time – especially time with your honey. AJ and I went out to dinner the other night. It wasn’t a “serious” date, but that’s what was so awesome about it. I can’t even remember what we were laughing about, but I do remember it was somewhat juvenile. I looked at him and said, “Do you think other couples who’ve been married 20 years crack up at silly stuff like we do?” He couldn’t stop laughing to answer me.

I’m thinking if they’re lucky, they do.

Oh, I was just thinking yesterday that it has been a while since I heard from you. I was going to email you. I happily procrastinated and here you are. Enjoy your time off. :P I am also enjoying a few days, but without Sury :P I am getting all the things done I would do if he weren’t around.

Funny how planned vacations end up just as wild and busy as the rest of our days. We went camping last month and by the end of the week I couldn’t even remember what we did! It flew by. My husband and I are planning on taking a vacation this winter. Our first in over 5 years. Fingers crossed! I hope your readers take some time off for me too;).

You are so right! Leland had to work Labor Day (grrr) but that evening, we grilled, went nuts in the pool listening to oldies, chatting, chasing one another, laughing. Later he said, “Well, I may not have gotten much time off this weekend but you sure made these few hours fun. Thanks, I needed that!” Taking any time away to focus on one another is vital and rejuvenating to the relationship!

I heard a line from a movie the other day – “If you’re not having fun, what’s the point of life?”
