This is the smile he gives me. And that I have AFTER I finish a swim training session ;-)

I threatened, a few months ago, to put video up of me singing.  I sing all the time, usually under my breath, and always flat, on other videos.

Well, I done’d it.

I heard the most beautiful song that fit my feelings for Eric exactly.  It’s a recording of David Barnes’ “God Gave Me You” done by Blake Shelton, who I love.  I picked out the chords and sang it for my sweetie, and he was a) properly appreciative/touched/verklempt and b) asked me to record it for him so he can put it on his play list to listen to on his shuffle when he runs.

Instead of just the audio recording (done on my iphone, and it worked!), I recorded on my webcam too, even though I did this on a whim and looked like I always do when I’m not at a client — BAD.  So, if you’re gonna do it, do it all the way, right?

Here’s my love song to Eric:

The words that first come to mind are that I cannot believe that you did this. However, the funny thing is that I CAN believe you did it, because you do such wonderfully nice, amazing things for me. I am very very grateful.

  2. Pamela says:

what i can’t believe is that I video’ed with the pile of Michelle’s “going to college” stuff behind me. our house looks like a junk yard 😉

I am very grateful for you. And I promise, this fall, I will start writing again, too.

  3. That was so lovely Pamela! Is there anything you can’t do? Amazing lady.

You are just amazing! Thank you for sharing yourself with so many of us in so many different and very real ways! You inspire me on a regular basis (really) and I wanted to sincerely let you know that I’m proud of you! I’m happy for you! I’m blessed to call you friend! Have a good day :) Robin

Robin: you inspire me! You’ve always sang so beautifully and fearlessly. I wanna be like you when I grow up! And you are creative and an interior decorator/designer/artiste. And uber-volunteer for your kids’ schools. Those things rock.

Very Very pretty. Both you and your music!

  7. This is awesome, Pamela. I never knew about this side of you and it was so nice to have a listen to you sing. That Eric is one lucky man… time you should record him crying while he’s listening to you sing for him. You guys continue to inspire me with all the love and support you share.

    • Pamela says:

Thanks, Darryl. Eric and I actually play together — he’s a bass guy, so we need a guitarist and a drummer. They don’t have to be any good :)

And my husband is VERY romantic, so yep, I get the tears. He’s the whole package.

We saw a 250 pound dead feral hog on the side of the ride when we were riding in Nowheresville this weekend. I’ve decided not to post the picture, but it was cool to see one up close and see how tough and huge those suckers are. And it was a great ride.

Today is the BIG MOVE -about to pack up computer, and decided to watch this. Boy is that true! To say that I have been on my best behavior with all the stress is a laugh. And he has just been there steady as a rock gauging my stress-level and trying to be helpful and loving.

So he came in when I weas watching/listening and stood behind me and rubbed my shoulder while we listened, and I turned around afterward and we were both crying. Good job bebe!

  9. Ooooohhh, Pam,

  11. Anne Reese says:

So touching and beautiful, Pamela. And the cat’s so busy :)

    • Pamela says:

Thanks! She is easily bored 😉 but she likes to play piano with me by walking across the keys and hands, which ahe did about 10 min before I shot the video.

  12. Eric Hutchins says:

    You are awesome
I love how a lot of the people that are close to you have reached out to you on this one, that it touched them. It touched me. I understand.

  13. Ally says:

You guys… you just leave me speechless. You two are so sweet and kind and loving. You are a true inspiration to all of us out here. Makes me want to go give my Hubs a big hug and kiss – because I definitely could not carry a tune to sing to him. And definitely not on camera. But I do have a fav song I like to send to him 😉

  14. Eric Hutchins says:

    Thank you
    Then you should :)!
I cant sing either, have to find other ways. But she makes it easy for me.

  15. lbddiaries says:

I swear. Are you sure we aren’t twins separated at birth (by different mothers and fathers)? Leland had me sing him a worship CD to go to sleep by. Are they not the BEST support system ever? God surely did give us these men. You have an awesome voice. It is so pure and clear. Wow, Pamela, just wow.

    • Pamela says:

Sister from another mother — fellow winner of luckiest woman alive — that is so awesome that you did a cd for him. We toy around with getting recording equipment. It’s on our someday list. Eric plays bass and guitar. :)

  16. Pamela says:

Hug that man Ally! I love the language of music — it’s a lasting continuing message/reminder of deep emotion, rooted to a time and a feeling. What could speak better of love?

    Hi Pamela,

I heard you sing “God Gave Me You” and thought it was
great. Gene hasn’t heard it yet, I will play it for him.
I will also listen to Blake Shelton when I have a chance.

Just watched that video and it was very sweet! You actually have a lovely voice. Also, checked out Lake Moosewhatever and it looks gorgeous. Our Maine trip was incredible too!

  19. Grace says:

I don’t know if I’m more impressed that you made and posted the video or that you are a good piano player. I took 10 years’ worth of lessons as a kid, and my piano skills are now gone with the wind. And seeing how you and your husband treat one another gives me great hope that I will find someone I’d be willing to sing to (believe me, that’s saying a lot!).

    • Pamela says:

Thanks! You know, I went back and re-took piano as an adult, and this time took it to learn how to play along to music, ie with a band, or to sing too, in other words, I learned about chords. Amazingly different, yet totally simple. Now, I can play along with anything in 5 minutes of plinking. It sounds impressive, but it is formulaic and easy. And turned up too loud in this video, ha ha.

  20. […] week I upped the ante.  I video’ed myself sans makeup, hairdo, and good outfit, singing and playing the piano.  The response was huge from the other side of the mirror.  My readers woke up.  Some of you […]

  21. Johnson Bellotti says:

What a wonderful piece, you made it great I appreciate it very much. It seems that you love Eric as your life. Actually playing a piano while singing is not easy and you really made it!

  22. Nanny Anna says:

This is so sweet :-) I bet your hubby teared up when viewing it. I Google+ it too!

    • Pamela says:

Thanks! He did tear up. I toy with the idea of re-doing it without the too loud piano and the scratching dog and technical difficulties and too long introduction, but … oh well, I think I’ll just leave it “real.” :)
